Official country name: Eastern Republic of Uruguay.
Location: The Eastern Republic of Uruguay is located in the southeastern region of South America. It is bordered by Argentina (to its west), Brasil (to its north and east), and the Atlantic Ocean (to its south and southeast).

The official language is Spanish but people also speak English, Portuguese and Portuñol, the last one is a mixture of Spanish and Portuguese usually spoken in the Brazilian border.

Teenagers also come from Chile, Brazil and Argentine as the Republic University is free so they come to study their whole careers. A lot of people come here to spend their holidays or last days and they may chose Uruguay as a permanent residence.

During the past four decades, 500,000 Uruguayans had emigrated to Brazil, Argentina, Canada, United States, Australia, Spain, Italy, France and Portugal. Very talented Uruguayans had settled in another country and had became famous and locally accepted.

Uruguay is characterised by its scarce altitude, divided into plains and peneplains. Som positive things are that they have fertile soil and are attractive to settlement but the negative thing is that they are hard to defend

In Uruguay the four seasons are clearly differentiate because of temperatura. In summer, the highest temperature is of 43oC and the lowest, of 17oC. in Winter, the lowest temperature is of -5oC and the hightest, of 14oC. This means that the territory is very vulnerable to the climate change.

Education in Uruguay is compulsory for a total of nine years. Under the initiative of Tabaré Vázquez, uruguay has approved and implemented a program called Ceibal Project which consists of having laptops for every Primary School Children.

In Uruguay, taxes are collected by the General Taxation Directorate. The most important taces are the Value-added tax (22%), the Wealth tax (from 0.7% to 2.75%), and the Income tax.
